verbal/physical assaults by other passengers

On Nov. 14 at about 11 PM in a nearly full Metro car on the Orange/Blue line, I was verbally, and closely thereafter, physically assaulted by two complete strangers as I was sitting minding my own business. How common is this? While I wait (still) for the Metro police to respond to my query as to what they did with my two attackers (I told them I was willing to press charges), I'd like to hear from others who have been similarly verbally and/or physically assaulted on Metro.
