Current MetroRiders.Org Poll Question

We encourage riders to respond to current MetroRiders.Org poll questions from time to time. Metro, the media and area legislators are also interested in your views. Should a Riders Representative be Added to Metro Board of Directors?

Congressman Tom Davis (R-VA), joined by area House of Representatives' members Frank Wolf (R-VA), Steny Hoyer (D-MD), Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), James Moran (D-VA), Albert Wynn (D-MD), Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) and Benjamin Cardin (D-MD), recently introduced H.R. 3496, Federal legislation to authorize $1.5 billion in Federal appropriations for new Metro railcars and buses over the next decade IF Metro hires an independent Inspector General, and adds two Federal officials to the Metro Board of Directors and IF D.C., Maryland and Virginia act to provide a stable, dedicated source of funding for future Metro costs.

Do you believe Congress should amend H.R. 3496 to require that a Riders Representative must be added to the Metro Board of Directors as a condition of Metro's becoming eligible for that additional Federal funding?
